Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March in 1976. Her numerous awards include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She also received two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine listed her as one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015. Forbes also named her as one of the 100 most powerful Women in the World in the year 2019. In 2021, Forbes named her the highest-paid actress in the world, with an estimated amount of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career as a teenager, making her debut as a screen actress in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she appeared as a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions as well as in the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Her role in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) led to her being recognized more widely. In 2005, she earned critical acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a career slump, in which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box office success, Witherspoon decided to make an comeback to the industry and produce and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). This resulted in her receiving a second Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Actress. Since then, she has been involved in a majority of television productions and has starred in a number of female-led literary adaptations. These include the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) as well as the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present) and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the initial episode of these shows. She was the producer of the film adaptations of Gone Girl (2014) as well as Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James, a clothing company, and is active in advocacy groups for children and women. She is a member of the Children's Defense Fund's Board and was also honored to serve as the chair of Avon Foundation's charitable foundation for women's issues in 2007.
