Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle includes football scholarships, family involvement and community involvement. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. In second football, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. In his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. He received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also designated an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began a career in business. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the country. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. He was promoted to the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame named him as a member in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
